The name is to be understood as a reminiscence of the traditions: In the old days, distillery workers used to shovel the germinating barley by the ton, hour after hour by hand. From this hard work, their shoulders sometimes hurt and their arms hung down low, almost like a chimpanzee. These temporary ailments were called ‘monkey shoulders’ and this Scotch was named after them. Monkey Shoulder is a blend of whisky from Balvenie, Glenfiddich and Kininvie, hence the name ‘Triple Malt’. Unlike traditional blends, Monkey Shoulder is 100% malt whisky
